Publication analytics.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which public pages readers visit and which publication links they open. Reports contain aggregated traffic, referral and device information. We remove query strings and exclude private account and guide conversations. We respect browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Reader names, email addresses, submissions and questions are never included in analytics events.

Ask Wake County.

The guide searches published local listings and points to official resources. Your question goes to our server to find those sources; we do not store questions in Supabase or send them to a language model. The last six conversation turns are saved in this browser for up to seven days. Choose New to clear them. Separate rate-limit counters use a salted visitor hash and are retained for up to two days. Normal hosting request logs still apply.

What you share with us.

When you submit a nomination, listing, event, tip, partnership enquiry, correction, or newsletter interest, we store your name, email, selected community, submission details, and consent. We use that information to review the submission and, with your consent, contact you about it. Newsletter signups are kept for publication and awards updates.

Where it is stored.

Submissions are held in our private Supabase database, shared with our sister publication Wild for Wendell. Hosting is provided by Vercel. Database access to contact details is restricted to authorized publication operations; forms are handled on the server. No submission or email address is exposed through the public directory.

Abuse prevention & hosting logs.

To limit spam, the application derives a salted hash from the connection’s IP address and stores a short-lived submission counter. These counters are cleared after two days as submissions are processed. The application does not store raw IP addresses in submission records. Our hosting provider may retain standard security and request logs under its own policies.

Publication & retention.

Submitted contact details are not published. Editors may use verified facts from a tip or listing in a public article or directory entry. Award nominations are retained through the award cycle and the following year for review; other submissions and newsletter interests are retained while needed for publication operations, unless you ask us to remove them.

Your choices.

You can request access, a correction, deletion, or removal from the newsletter launch list through our editorial contact form. Use the email address associated with your submission and explain your request. We may ask you to verify ownership of that email before making changes. Future newsletter editions will include an unsubscribe link.

We do not sell reader contact information. This launch uses no advertising trackers or tracking cookies. Links to other websites are governed by those sites’ privacy policies.
