Wake Forest has released its 2026 draft Unified Development Ordinance for public review. The UDO brings together rules for zoning, subdivisions, land use, grading, stormwater and historic preservation. This is a draft under review; the town has not announced adoption.
Read the draft and use the Share Your Feedback form on the town’s UDO project page. The town encourages review before a public comment session and recommendation at the Planning Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, 2026. The checked announcement does not give that meeting’s time.
Planning staff will hold open office hours in the Town Hall Ground Floor Meeting Room, 301 South Brooks Street: Monday, October 26, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.; Tuesday, October 27, 7–9 a.m.; and Monday, November 2, 4:30–6:30 p.m. These are local Eastern times. No appointment is needed and there will be no formal presentation. Use the Taylor Street entrance.
The town expects a Board of Commissioners public hearing and possible adoption in January 2027. It says an updated zoning map would follow the ordinance’s adoption and would also be offered for public input. Those future steps remain anticipated, not final decisions.
